The Red Deal by The Red Nation

With the ever-present threat of climate catastrophe, many are increasingly searching for solutions to the crisis on the horizon. Recent political discussions in the United States about a “Green New Deal” designed to reshape our relationship to fossil fuels while transitioning to clean energy jobs is one approach that has gained some traction. However ambitious and well-intentioned, critiques of this plan suggest that it remains shortsighted and stands to perpetuate violence against communities of color, both domestically and abroad. By contrast, The Red Nation’s The Red Deal: Indigenous Action to Save Our Earth offers an alternative approach that takes into consideration the lasting effects of colonialism and the importance of Indigenous approaches to understanding and responding to the crisis of our times.
