As an educator, I see my job as twofold: to help students challenge the way they see the world, and to support them in discovering new perspectives through hands-on, real-world learning.
Regardless of the course, I aim for my students to walk away from class with the ability to apply a critical and holistic view to the world around them. I encourage students to first understand how our views of ourselves and our communities are shaped by our cultural backgrounds and then provide opportunities to expand these perspectives through hands-on ethnographic experiences.
